Many recent news reports have focused on relationships – familial, national and international. As Congress works out the details of the physical and social structures that connect and support us, President Biden is meeting with world leaders to consider climate change, the world economy and the health of our planet and of all who inhabit it. Meeting first with Pope Francis and then participating in the meeting of world leaders at the G20 summit, President Biden will also engage in bilateral meetings with a number of other leaders.

As Christians, called to live in right relationship with one another, we follow Mary’s example. Told that his mother and some of his followers were among the crowd, Jesus asked, “Who is my mother?” Then Jesus said, “Whoever does the will of my Father, these are my mother and brothers and sisters.” Let us, then, resolve to follow Mary’s example and “do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.” And let us ask Mary to join us in prayer for our leaders.
