We are a third of the way through the first hundred days of the Biden administration. On assuming office, President Biden recommitted the United States to the Paris Climate Agreement on assuming office. Our renewed partnership in this worldwide effort took effect on February 19th. Over a hundred member countries have committed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Achieving this goal will require immediate action, policy changes, an evaluation of energy use and continuing development of clean energy. Among other executive actions, President Biden ordered federal agencies to comply with revised energy policies; he also halted new fossil fuel leasing on federal land and water. A group of scientists has been named to recommend further steps. Rebuilding our national infrastructure, transitioning fossil fuel workers to clean energy jobs will require bipartisan support to develop policies and fund the implementation. The prolonged summer fire season and the recent snow event that affected both the electric and water supply in Texas command our attention and prayers.
Mary, Mother of us all, you have been called the New Eve, pray for us and our leaders as we work to restore and preserve our world.
